Peaks of Otter

Day Five- I'm skipping around: A picture of somewhere you've been.

The first activity I ever did with J was hiking. He took me up into the Blue Ridge Mountains and led me up the second highest mountain in Virginia. That first trip made me fall in love with him. We were in a group- and it showed me the kind of leader J was: steady, calm and in control. It was obvious that J wasn't someone to charge into a situation and take control (ehem, like me), but that people naturally looked to him for guidance. He climbed with me- and I automatically trusted him to spot me. I came home kina knowing this was the man- or at least the type of man for me.

Even when we weren't together and he was dating someone else, we went hiking. That mountain kept our friendship intact.

During the years we weren't dating, but we were...during the academy...all the changes and upheavel in our lives- we came back to the mountain and hiked and heaved and pushed our way up.

in the midnight winter snow

in the misty fall

he proposed to me on top of the mountain, on a steamy summer day

After we married, we came back for our anniversaries

We came back pregnant

We didn't do much hiking then...haha.

and this fall we're going again, bringing the baby and probably going to argue over who has to carry him up the mountain.
But Peaks will always be a part of our relationship, representative of who are as a couple. Our best times together...

I'm loving these about you posts you are doing. And I especially love this sweet post about your mountain. Everyone should have a special place that they go back to. It looks beautiful there.
